PLAY:
The Social Mind and Brain

The concept of PLAY is usually related to games and enjoyment, but in fact it is a biological need.

PLAY in its neuropsychoanalytic meaning — based on theory, research and clinical practice —
is one of the brain’s emotional drives, which greatly influences our:

- personality and lives
- contact with others
- integration into society
- relation with in-groups and out-groups, hierarchy, and power —

and is also related to developing empathy.

The Congress will present new connections between the various aspects: theoretical perspectives, clinical reflections, and social group perspectives, which will contribute to better understanding of the concept and our practical work.

It will be of value to all in the field, and we look forward to welcoming participants both locally and internationally.

The International Neuropsychoanalysis Society

The International Neuropsychoanalysis Society was founded in London, in July 2000, to promote interdisciplinary work between the fields of psychoanalysis and neuroscience. The Society was founded to provide a forum for clinicians and scientists who think it is important for psychoanalysts and neuroscientists to speak together, to educate each other, and to work together, because we are studying the same thing.
